Arrows can be tipped, so why not weapons be dipped? Up your alchemy game with a new unique mechanic, Potion Dipping. Put a weapon in your offhand with a potion in your mainhand, and interact with the potion to apply its effect to the weapon! A new potion effect cannot be applied to a weapon that already has one.
The next 4 successful hits will apply the potion effect to your enemy (if possible), at 1/4th duration. This includes attacks that hit multiple enemies, like sweeping attacks. Instant effects have only a single use. Icons in the action bar will show the player if their current weapon is dipped, and how many uses it has left (see gallery).
This works on Swords, Spears, Axes, Maces, and Tridents, including when their thrown. Any item can be added to the potion_appliable item tag if you so desire!
NOTE: Hitting an enemy, even if they are on damage cooldown, will still use a potion charge. This can annoying with poison. Similarly, the hit that kills an enemy will also use a potion charge. There wasn't a really good way to get around either of these.
